Last kick of the match victory

East London Ladies made it an unbeaten weekend for the club’s teams with a nail-biting 17-14 win at home against Tabard Ladies on Sunday (21 February).
A penalty by second row Samantha Leetch with the last kick of the game secured the win to take the ladies a point clear at the top of the Women’s NC London & SE league.
Wearing a new kit of blue shirts and shorts and pink socks for the first time, sponsored by the Wright family, East London scored the opening try on 14 minutes through Leetch in the first-half who then converted her own try with a drop kick from in front of the posts. The lead lasted only ten minutes and Tabard were level at half-time.
With ten minutes remaining full back Rachel Edmead put the home side in front again with a try that Leetch converted. Tabard however were level again within minutes.
With the game almost over Tabard were penalised to the right of the posts. Leetch stepped up and bravely slotted through the uprights to win the game with the final kick.
The win puts East London top of their league by a point over Barnes Ladies.
